 Spenta in the BiscayTIK Project

Publishing date: 9/1/2008

On June 23, the Biscay provincial government, the Diputación de Vizcaya, in collaboration with Microsoft presented the BiscayTIK Project (Biscay Technologies of Information and Knowledge), thus complying with the pledge the administration promised in its governing platform, and another demonstration of its commitment to new technology.

The project foresaw the creation of a Microsoft-run Technology Center in the vicinity of Getxo which would employ between 30 and 40 professionals.

In addition, there was the objective to homogenize the computer tools being used by local governments in Biscay province to improve internal management and more importantly, their relationship with the general public; bringing the administration closer to its citizens through a new communication channel (the Internet) would make interaction much easier, plus free e-mail for all citizens in Biscay province and the ability to carry out up to 100 different operations with the municipal government (registration, certificates, applications, etc…)

As part of this innovative project, which aimed to convert the province into an international reference for the application of information technology and knowledge to the municipal governments, Spenta will be the specialized consulting firm responsible for developing the online public access platform. In this way, Spenta has strengthened its leadership position in the development and implementation of applications known as Citizen Portals.
